We had Rhenish sauerbraten, potato pancakes and a Breton fish salad. All three dishes were fresh, nicely presented and very tasty. The portions were very neat. I also like the varied menu of the day, on which you can find really great dishes for a pub. (Turbot, barley soup, veal schnitzel with chanterelles, ...)

We have been coming to the Schäfer house for a long time. We have felt since Corona that the landlord wants to squeeze the last euro out of his guests in the last week. For this price range, the quality of the kitchen delivered is an imposition. Roast beef plate € 18.50 !? The service was friendly as always. The well-meaning "beer garden" directly at the bus stop on Dürener Straße is a bad laugh. The food tastes even more "interesting" with one of the fine diesel notes. We won't be able to get here anymore.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Very friendly, excellent service and some of the tastiest, best value food ever. We love German food and this restaurant is perfect. We had the veal cutlet and the pork with broad beans but everything on the menu (fresh daily specials only) looked and smelled fabulous, good honest traditional cuisine. We can't wait to go again. Can I give more than 5 stars?

Haus Sion im Schäfer has simply been one of the best home-style restaurants in western Cologne for years. The goose is the best you can eat. The salads, the schnitzel (also Viennese, not just Viennese), the asparagus (when the season is), EVERYTHING tastes flawless. Always a nice cold Sion. A reservation is more than advisable, Haus Schäfer is very popular. I always like to come back, very clear 5 stars.

The food and the servers here are top rate. The bartender is friendly the waitress was very kind and attentive but most of all the food is, I think, the best German, food I have ever had.
